The first way is, mix as you go working with dried herbs and another way is to make a Golden Paste that you can make lattes from without measuring out the powders each time. Both are delicious and offer the same benefits, just choose the method that feels right for you!
METHOD 1 - Golden Milk Elixir
1-2 tsp. Turmeric, ground
1/4 tsp. Black Pepper, freshly ground
1/2 tsp. Cinnamon, ground
1/4 tsp. Ginger Root, ground
1/4-1/2 tsp. Reishi mushroom powder
1/4 tsp. Cardamom, powder (optional)
1/4 tsp. Nutmeg, freshly grated (optional)
1 tsp. ghee or coconut oil
1-2 c. plant milk (almond or oat or soy)
rose petals, dried (optional)
Measure out ground herbs into a small saucepan, add milk and warm ingredients until just before simmering. Pour into a mug and froth with a milk frother to make it foamy. Sprinkle with dried rose petals for some heart loving attention and self-care to elevate the experience. Or, say a mantra to yourself to embed the message into your drink such as. Life is full of moments we can make more loving and joyful and playful for ourselves!
RECIPE 2 - GOLDEN PASTE
Make Golden Paste
This is a great way to make a bulk amount if you want a quick way to make a latte without getting out all the spices each time, or make them often and want to save yourself some time. The heat activates the synergy of the black pepper and turmeric nicely too.
1/2 c. Turmeric, ground
1 tsp. Ginger root, ground
1 tsp. Black Pepper, freshly ground
1 tbsp. Cinnamon, ground
2 tsp. Reishi mushroom powder
1 tsp. Nutmeg, freshly ground
1/4 c. Ghee or coconut oil
1 c. Water
Add all ingredients to a small saucepan and heat gently to mix for a few minutes. Now you have a paste that you can use for golden milk, add to a carrot soup recipe, or make golden tea. To make Golden Tea, add 1 tsp of paste to a mug of freshly boiled water with a tsp or two of honey or maple syrup, and milk of your choice if desired.
Paste will keep for 2 weeks in the fridge. So make up only as much as your need for that time.
